If you\u2019ve ever tried to house-train a puppy, or had a cat spray all over the place, then you\u2019ll know what we\u2019re talking about. Pet emergencies will usually affect most owners at some point. Maybe your pet has been fine, then suddenly one day you smell something as you walk into a room. It\u2019s not uncommon, some pets can be ill and can\u2019t help it, or maybe a stray cat found its way in through a window. Whatever the reason, you don\u2019t have to worry. Many people think they\u2019ll never get rid of the smell of pet stains, but all is not lost!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The best way to get rid of pet stains from your furniture is to call the professionals. But if it\u2019s just a small stain, then try to sort it out yourself first. First thing to do is find the area your pet has marked. It sound\u2019s silly, but sometimes the smell can come and go and you\u2019re never sure where it\u2019s coming from. Find it and clean it with soap and water. And we mean CLEAN it. Get on your hands and knees and scrub hard! If your pet can still smell itself then it will probably go there again if it wasn\u2019t an accident. You need to make sure that all traces of the smell are gone, and even if you can\u2019t smell it, your pet can, so go extra hard!<\/p>\n<p>For urine, if it is still wet, ie recent, then blot up as much of it as possible with kitchen roll. If it has dried, use lukewarm water and soap. Don\u2019t use a steam cleaner because the heat might bond the urine to the fabric, and once that happens it\u2019s time for new carpets. If your pet stain is a deuce, then vacuum up as much of the crap as possible, let it soak for a bit in warm water and then get back to scrubbing. Try to avoid using chemicals as this will stain your carpet, but some household carpet cleaner should work.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, for pet emergencies that end in a nasty stain, call Upholstery Cleaning Services if you want to leave it to the professionals.
